Unity Fayre
Attended by over 4000 people in 2006 and 2007 the Unity Fayre is a one day annual outdoor fair run by the Alamiyah Institute. The Unity Fayre is dedicated to promoting community cohesion, which seeks to reach out to the wider community to celebrate universal values and offer a unique taste of Muslim culture and creative expression in a fun family format. Taking place during the summer we host activities and entertainment for both young and old alike. To date we have concluded two highly successful fairs at Valentines Park in Ilford (East London) during summer 2006 and 2007. Each year the fair received very positive media coverage. Alamiyah Schools
Alamiyah Schools is an initiative of the 'Alamiyah Institute, committed to reviving the transformative spirit of Prophetic Education. The aim of the 'Alamiyah Schools project is to establish a blueprint for a Holistic Educational System from the early years through to pre-university level to educate mind body and spirit. The system will fuse best educational practice from both East and West, whilst encompassing every aspect of the school from teacher training and curriculum development to diet and uniform. Our research on educational provision globally has concluded a significant need to develop curricula that are fully integrated with the ideals of Prophetic guidance. In doing so we hope to prevent our schools from falling prey to the inevitable contradictions that arise in the absence of such a structure and ensure that all aspects of the school convey the broad and inclusive message of unity (Tauhid).
The Alamiyah Centre
The Alamiyah Centre is at the heart of the Alamiyah Institute, since it will be a base through which to serve all members of the community. We intend the centre to be a sanctuary for spiritual retreat where individuals can occupy themselves with personal reflection and meditation and for gaining knowledge through attending weekly classes. The centre will also serve as a forum for students attending classes to revive and refresh their knowledge through individual or group study and discussion. The centre will also be open as a vibrant venue for meeting, collaboration and engagement with the wider community and as a point of reference for people interested to find out more about Islam and personal spiritual development.
Silk Route Dinners
Silk Route Dinners is a series of fundraising events designed to highlight the culture and cuisine of eight distinct lands along the silk route. We aim to broaden the reach of the Alamiyah Institute to share our vision by showcasing the work of the Institute and our future projects in the hope that we can build these projects together as a community. Through this series of dinners we hope to revive the time honoured art of storytelling by bringing to the audience traditional tales of wisdom and reflection. We hope to provide an opportunity to develop a shared future vision of education and community with the intention that as a collective we can become strong, vibrant and united.
